1998 Nobel laureate in physiology, Louis Ignarro, will deliver a public lecture at OSU as part of the Linus Pauling Institute’s biennial conference on dietary factors and health.

Public Lecture by Nobel Laureate: Dr. Louis Ignarro, The Road to Stockholm - A Nobel Mission.

The “father of Viagra,” Dr. Louis Ignarro was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1998 for elucidating of the roles of nitric oxide in this body. Nitric oxide led to a new world of discovery in heart disease, erectile dysfunction and other conditions.

The self-described son of an uneducated Italian immigrant, Dr. Ignarro presents an American success story. Starting with an eager young mind and a chance encounter with Linus Pauling, Dr. Ignarro will share how his early education was key among a series of events that launched him towards one of society’s highest honors.

This free public lecture is part of the Linus Pauling Institute’s biennial conference on dietary factors and health. It will start with a reception and open house featuring exhibits by conference sponsors and OSU research departments, including the life of Linus Pauling and the current research in the Linus Pauling Institute.
