Members and guests mingled with other science writers, toured research labs and welcomed our new board at NSWA’s annual party on Jan. 28 at Seattle Children’s Research Institute (SCRI).
SCRI opened it’s brand new Discovery Portal for viewing by NSWA and provided tours of the following labs:
- Aquatics Facility – Seattle Children’s zebrafish aquatics facility is helping researchers pursue advanced therapies that repair congenital heart defects and other disorders – without invasive surgery or its complications.
- Immunology Diagnostic Lab – The Immunology Diagnostic Laboratory (IDL) performs state-of-the-art genetic testing, flow cytometry and cellular immunology studies to diagnose immunologic disorders.
Books and articles by members were on display at our member writing table. A photographer was present, along with a photo booth with fun science props. Check out the photos!
