Tuesday, August 1 –
NSWA Member Special -- the $5 ticket fee is waived for the first 20 NSWA members who RSVP to Keith Seinfeld before Thursday, July 27 Reply to: firstname.lastname@example.org For all others, entry is $5.
Join us Tuesday, Aug. 1 for a lecture at the Pacific Science Center, and then a meetup with Dennis Schatz, nationally recognized astronomy educator (and NSWA member).
Dennis is an eclipse junkie, who not only knows the finer details of penumbras and the probability of clouds on Monday, Aug. 21, but also can tell you what it would take to get yourself into the path of this total eclipse (given that most hotels and rentals are booked), how animals react in a total eclipse, and the unique role of public libraries in the lead-up to this eclipse. If you ask, he can explain the logistical problem of 100m people trying to get to (and fit in) the "zone of totality."
As part of the Science Center’s “Science in the City” series, the lecture will cover eclipse basics. Afterward, over a beer, Dennis will meet with NSWA members and talk shop.
Join Dennis and NSWA afterward a few blocks away at TeKu Tavern, 552 Denny Way. We’ll arrive between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
