The community is invited to the following event, with ticket price $15.
An information war is underway. Politicians, advertisers and even scientists are using the internet (and your own data) to commandeer your attention and influence your actions. They know who you are and what you’ll respond to. Some, we’ve seen, are not above promoting half-truths, making predictions from biased data, misrepresenting results and boldly defending outright lies to get what they want.
How can you know what to believe? And who to trust with your data?
Join UW experts in data science, social media and law to learn the latest techniques to detect fake news and BS data. We’ll examine the power of viral campaigns and delve into ways your personal data is being collected and used to target you.
