NSWA is pitching in to help science journalists from around the world come to San Francisco this October for the World Conference of Science Journalists, which is being held in the U.S. for the first time—and we need our members to help as well.

The WCSJ meeting, sponsored jointly by the National Association of Science Writers, the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, and the World Federation of Science Journalists, is expected to draw more than 1,200 attendees, including many from low-income regions where travel funding for journalists is virtually nonexistent.

That’s where we come in. Science writers from around the U.S. are making individual contributions to a special fund that will be distributed as travel grants to help international speakers and attendees join us in San Francisco. Members of the boards of NASW and CASW have personally pledged $5,000 already to this fund as an expression of welcome and support to our peers overseas.

Please join us in making a tax-deductible donation to help strengthen the global community of science writers. The application period for grants closes on March 15.
