A hundred NSWA members, guests and friends met Jan. 9 at the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle to eat, drink and get creative with our science-themed photobooth.
Networking ensued. Catching up with old friends flourished. And mentoring abounded as those starting out in the field mixed with more experienced science communicators.
David Williams, 2013 and 2014 NSWA board president, shared highlights from NSWA’s 2013 happenings, welcomed the new board, and thanked our retiring board volunteers. Hsiao-Ching Chou, of ISB, told attendees of interesting upcoming events the institute is organizing.
Members brought some of their latest projects, including books, websites and articles, for a display table arranged by board member David George Gordon.
Bad science jokes were distributed by Molly McElroy, who organized the bash and is the 2013 and 2014 NSWA vice-president.
