Michele Solis writes for Chemical & Engineering News about how the pandemic has disrupted undergraduates’ chemistry education. Virtual labs are less than ideal for learning the hands-on aspects of the discipline, and many students (though not all) find it harder to focus on prerecorded lectures. Nevertheless, profs have found creative workarounds to keep the learning going — and the pandemic has rekindled many students’ excitement to enter into a career in science.
