In an op-ed for Wired, Jenny Morber (@JRMorber) writes that Russia should be held liable for the environmental harm it is causing in Ukraine, though the international legal and political systems don’t make that easy. Morber explains how Ukranian scientists have been documenting impacts of the invasion on Ukraine’s animals and plants, and watching as the sky, soil and air fill up with pollutants from destroyed buildings and vehicles. These dangers will linger for years, continuing to harm Ukranians and the nonhuman life within the country’s borders even after the war ends and troops go home. She includes some potential avenues for justice to be served. Photo: National Police of Ukraine via Wikimedia Commons
