In the latest issue of Strata, Abby Metzger (@APMMetzger) and Nancy Steinberg (@NDSteinberg) write about women in polar science, a field women have broken into in great numbers, but in which they still often encounter a frosty environment. The story elevates the voices of female polar researchers as they talk about the stereotypes, subtle freeze-outs and sexual assaults they have encountered over the course of their work — and their thoughts about what it will take for the field to achieve true equity. The magazine, which the pair edit, is a publication of the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences of Oregon State University. Photo: Tsy1980 via Wikimedia Commons
