In a new study parents ensure their newborn gets care, but may neglect their own health, member Chris Tachibana pens. It’s no surprise that people naturally focus on their kid’s health and may prioritize it, but their health fares worse than their infants across the board. That goes for both rural and urban parents, though the former had more hospitalizations and faced more problems getting OB-GYN care. Despite their actions, parents often need to be in good conditions to give quality care to their children. However, insurance and cost paints grim pictures for parents, who are often more uninsured than their children, especially cases of losing insurance after pregnancy. Read more on the data and suggestions for parental and children’s health from Tachibana’s work.
