Topic: Can we know the details of past Cascadia earthquakes? Geophysical modeling meets paleoseismology
In this seminar we will talk about whether the last great Cascadia earthquake on January 26th 1700 was a single event or a series of events closely spaced in time. Knowledge of the past is only possible because of the combination of geology and geophysics and we will discuss how the collaboration of these two disciplines leads to better preparations for future earthquakes and tsunamis.
