Mongabay’s webinar series continues with our first session of 2026: How to Cover Nature Crime.

Join this special webinar hosted by Mongabay’s Global Bureau to learn how journalists can report on nature crime and other criminal activity that affects the environment, as well as the people who live in and depend on these ecosystems. Drawing on reporting by Mongabay’s Nature Crime fellows in Mongabay Latam and Mongabay Indonesia, the discussion explores what journalists can learn from their methods, tools, and field experience.

The experts

Daniela Quintero Díaz

Daniela Quintero Díaz is a journalist and sociologist based in Bogotá, Colombia, with seven years of experience reporting on the country’s mega-diverse ecosystems. During these years, she has conducted in-depth investigations to uncover harmful and illegal practices that threaten biodiversity, ecosystems, and communities. She was part of the investigative unit at El Espectador, one of the largest newspapers in Colombia, where she helped bring significant visibility to stories and reports focused on climate change, energy transition, biodiversity, and water ecosystems. She has also covered international negotiations on climate and biodiversity.

Richaldo Hariandja

Richaldo Hariandja, who goes by Rico, is a journalist in Jakarta who has focused on environmental issues for more than nine years. He has worked with many publications from local to international, including Mongabay Indonesia and Mongabay International since 2020.
