A panel of experts discussed the joys and sorrows of creating text for signs, kiosks and other interpretive materials at the monthly meeting on May 14 at University House. Our panelists (listed below) shared their collective knowledge about planning, writing, editing and producing such materials at places like the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Yakima Area Arboretum and Fort Worden State Park.
- Winifred Kehl is a freelance writer (and NSWA member) specializes in informal science education and research. She writes for museum exhibits, educational publications and magazines such as Museum.
- Laura Markley (NSWA member) is a freelance interpretive exhibits writer/researcher and has written for aquariums, zoos, nature centers, nature trails, state and national parks and the Pacific Science Center. She is the founder of Laura Firth Markley LLC
- Sandra Noel is the founder of Noel Design LLC, where she has spent the past 25 years as a freelance illustrator/designer developing interpretive designs and illustrations for environmental education exhibits.
