Writing for Nature, Virginia Gewin (@VirginiaGewin) profiles geoscientists who are leading grassroots efforts to make their field more welcoming to researchers who have long been excluded from this area of science. Recent surveys have revealed that discrimination, harassment and exclusion are commonly encountered by geoscientists of color, women, those with disabilities and those who are LGBT.
