Jerry Joyce, of Moon Joyce Resources, coauthored a recent paper in Peer J, an up-and-coming open access biological and medical sciences journal. The crowd-available article, “Using citizen-science data to identify local hotspots of seabird occurrence,” was also crowdsourced. Data collected by volunteers were used to analyze the Puget Sound seabird population.
