For Washington State University, Sara Zaske writes about new research examining how THC appears in breastmilk when mothers use cannabis. The psychoactive chemical shows up in milk at relatively low levels, the researchers found, but there was no consistent time after usage that THC concentration peaked, and it is unknown what effect even small levels of THC can have on infants. Even when mothers had abstained from cannabis use for 12 hours, there was still detectable levels of THC in their milk, Zaske wrote. Image: Public domain via Wikimedia Commons
