Jes Burns of Oregon Public Broadcasting won the multimedia category in the 2022 NSWA Best of the Northwest Awards for her story on the secrets of a good night of shut-eye. In her piece — described by the judges as “highly engaging” — Burns visits scientists who are learning about the enigmatic glymphatic system of the brain and those who are developing a device to help the brain stay in the most restorative phase of sleep for longer.
